pattern me pretty

patterns abound these days, from the runway to runners, pillows, poufs, table linens...they're everywhere.  and there are so many beautiful ones to choose from whether your taste runs wild or a bit more refined.  i like to balance big bold florals with tone on tone geometry or vice versa - a great way to brighten up for spring.

pastel punch

after watching a bit of the golden globes last night, i was inspired by all of the dusty pinks, powdery blues, and ivories.  really loving what dvf has going on for spring...

to shed or not to shed

fur accents and accessories have been really popular as we all know.  i'm just not sure i'll be ready to say goodbye to it for the spring, it adds such luxurious texture.  here are some reminders that it doesn't necessarily have to hibernate during warmer weather.

starting off on the right foot...or at least with fun shoes

i always feel a little down when the excitement of the holidays subsides and we all have to go back to normal life.  that's why i treated myself to a little bling for the feet...hello 2012
happy new year everyone!

eye on: wearstler's malibu sanctuary

kelly W knows whats up.  she's got such an amazing collection of sculpture and furniture, making for a really interesting, rich space.  not to mention the ocean view...not a bad backdrop.  these shots come from kelly framel at the glamourai as she and fellow blogging/photog friend, jamie were insanely lucky enough to borrow the beach house for one incredible shoot!

getting excited about scout & catalogue

scout & catalogue is one etsy shop that i will definitely be following.  they've just posted their summer lookbook so be sure to check it out!

summer loafing

so i live in pikolino "jerez" loafers.  they're basic, comfortable, and i love them.  my current pair is on their last legs, so i'm shopping around.  since they're seriously on my feet everyday, i'm willing to spend and i've had my eye on a pair of tods forever...

2.5.11

just beachy

i don't own a beach house, but if i did i would dress it and myself like this:
room - calypso st barth for target; pouf - som; towel - calypso st barth
outfit - all saints; chest - som; candle - anthropologie; stool - som

french connection + céline =

i'm really into what french connection has going on for summer. it just looks so natural and comfortable. top that off with a céline bag that i covet on a daily basis...

22.3.11

in the name of jil sander

i will consent to color
i'm ready to ditch the puffer for lighter layers.

19.3.11

stripes all around

right now my apartment is very fall - colored which is cozy but starting to feel a little stuffy. the same goes for my wardrobe which tends to be very neutral themed (i'm ok with this) but could stand to be freshened up. i'm into stripes right now - for myself and for my space.

as i mentioned before i've recently worked at a boutique interiors firm in nyc that specialized in catering to the ultra high-end. an interesting material that i came across is "kinon". it's a hand-cast resin material that bonds to its mdf base layer and comes in a variety of patterns and colors - two are displayed above.

these boots are made for walkin

i am not a fashion blogger but every once in a while i come across something so finely crafted or put together, something has to be said. my fiancé just returned from a weekend in the hill country outside of austin, texas where he couldn't help but notice the boots worn by his camping compadres. crafted by hand, these are some fiiiine lookin boots by HELM
i particularly love the way the gentleman in the first picture has folded the boot into a cuff under his jeans.

shear brilliance

it begins with these guys...

claudy jongstra is a designer that i have admired for a while for her ability to take such a basic material and transform it into a variety of applications from interior coverings and textures to high fashion fabrics. her process is remarkable and the product is truly amazing. i particularly like the ethereal presence of her pieces that involve felting onto raw silk and silk chiffon. she has mastered such detailed and intricate techniques with such a wild and unruly material.
