in stark contrast to the musings of the previous post, today is one of those days.  who doesn't love grey though? add a little pop of fresh, bright green and you're back on the sunny side.

my mom is a knitter, which is great because she's always looking for a project and I've got plenty of ideas.  here are a few to feast your eyes upon.

after watching a bit of the golden globes last night, i was inspired by all of the dusty pinks, powdery blues, and ivories.  really loving what dvf has going on for spring...

fresh start

it's feeling more like spring than winter and i find myself gravitating to bright whites, navy, charcoal, and this chartreuse/citron that is way out of my normal color vocabulary.  anyway, it's inspired me to rethink the items that make up my bathroom.  west elm has some great little towels that might end up as curtains one of these days...

chin-up it's friday

at my favorite little lounge in brooklyn i've found a delicious cocktail they call the chin-up.  it's made with a curious liqueur called cynar, made from artichokes of all things!!

1/2" cucumber wheel

2 oz. gin

1/2 oz. cynar

1/2 oz. dry vermouth

1/2 pinch of salt

muddle the cuke in a glass, add the rest, cover with ice, stir, strain, pour.  serve with a paper-thin slice of cucumber.

timeless pieces + modern forms

this is one that i've had in the archives for a while - from the late great domino magazine.  josef frank linen, a saarinen table; classic forms and vintage finds.  i think curtains can be a fun way to introduce a little color, pattern or texture.  and they're pretty easy to change out if you're so inclined.

weaving spiders come not here...

according to the author albert parry, at least two elements are essential to bohemianism, the first being an obsession with one or more of the seven arts, the other being poverty...i definitely adhere to the latter.  he describes "his bohemian" as a free-thinker, unconventional in their views on art, literature, and the ability to make beautiful with what is available.  i love how these ideas show themselves in design - eclectic, whimsical, free and unassumingly elegant.

i'm really into what french connection has going on for summer. it just looks so natural and comfortable. top that off with a céline bag that i covet on a daily basis...

ruggedly sophisticated

i first learned of el garzon while watching an episode of anthony bourdain as he covered the mouth-watering food creations of chef francis mallmann in uruguay.

the restaurant and hotel has this remote sort of elegant campy feel that's just beautiful.
