pattern me pretty

patterns abound these days, from the runway to runners, pillows, poufs, table linens...they're everywhere.  and there are so many beautiful ones to choose from whether your taste runs wild or a bit more refined.  i like to balance big bold florals with tone on tone geometry or vice versa - a great way to brighten up for spring.

palm wonderful

it's around this time of year that i start to dream of a beach get-away where i can lounge in a hammock strung from two royal palms and sip a piña colada. if only.  perhaps the banana leaves by rose cumming will do the trick for now.

not your grandma's afghan

my mom is a knitter, which is great because she's always looking for a project and I've got plenty of ideas.  here are a few to feast your eyes upon.

no longer a kaleidoscope of dizzying geometric patterns, knits can be modern, simple and another great way to add texture to your space.

to shed or not to shed

fur accents and accessories have been really popular as we all know.  i'm just not sure i'll be ready to say goodbye to it for the spring, it adds such luxurious texture.  here are some reminders that it doesn't necessarily have to hibernate during warmer weather.

layer it on

rethinking cushions. i love the effect of layering pillows, somehow it's more luxurious and inviting.  try stacking floor cushions to get a similar look in your home, or maybe this could be a way to revamp that old sofa?

easy does it

i can't resist this home of inès de la fressange that was featured on elle decor.  so simple and so beautiful, you couldn't help but breathe easy there.

fresh start

it's feeling more like spring than winter and i find myself gravitating to bright whites, navy, charcoal, and this chartreuse/citron that is way out of my normal color vocabulary.  anyway, it's inspired me to rethink the items that make up my bathroom.  west elm has some great little towels that might end up as curtains one of these days...

an elegant detail with ordinary piping

there are a variety of diy projects that involve some simple piping, i've written about a couple good ones before here.  this one i think is so elegant and unexpected, it makes the idea of a canopy a little less floofy and adds a bit of drama to those tall ceilings.

friday fun finds: horchow

here are a few great finds at even greater prices from horchow.  these are wonderful little pieces to add a pop of color or pattern to your space.  i really love the geometric pattern of that fireplace grill and the kilim ottoman is my absolute favorite - featured in the current architectural digest.  i think these things are going fast so giddyup! oh and btw, free shipping ends today!

the aura of luxurious linens

i'm loving the bedding from aura.  contrasts of deep, rich pigment with light linens...layers of texture.  looks like heaven which is just how a bed should look.

stockholm furniture fair

the swedes get it right...pretty much every time.  here are a few items from the 2011 stockholm furniture fair that were covered in wallpaper mag.  i usually go pretty traditional as far as sofas, but those acne numbers have me rethinking my tendencies.  anyone going to the icff in nyc this weekend??

getting excited about scout & catalogue

scout & catalogue is one etsy shop that i will definitely be following.  they've just posted their summer lookbook so be sure to check it out!

just beachy

i don't own a beach house, but if i did i would dress it and myself like this:
room - calypso st barth for target; pouf - som; towel - calypso st barth
outfit - all saints; chest - som; candle - anthropologie; stool - som

golden glow

i have definitely been gravitating to the warm sparkle of brass and bronze...this is not normal for me.  i certainly could not have it all over the place, but i love little accents here and there.

apartment envy

this apartment done by haus interior and featured in trad home | lonny mag has me a tad bit jealous.  i'm actually really into the grayscale faux bois paper in the bedroom.
so many great little moments in this issue, all featuring different perspectives on traditional interiors.
